The spider spun a web, forming fractals from silver threads; quite the engineer, an exceptional mathematician.
Eager to capture, lying in wait.
​
Soon, a firefly buzzed right into the web, strobing and struggling as the spider descended its netting, an eager, eight-legged exterminator.
​
And, while I hated to upset the natural order of things, I reflexively swiped at the web, freeing the firefly.
Some go hungry. Others are saved.
To those insects, I had become god.
